Last Wednesday’s 4-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 1 near Georgetown took the life of a 9-year-old boy. Wyatt Pope of Georgetown died of injuries in the crash that also killed his father. Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup says 9-year-old Wyatt died at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana Saturday morning.

Wyatt’s dad, 29-year-old Tyler Pope, died Wednesday from injuries in that crash.

Illinois State Police reported Tyler Pope was driving a vehicle which struck two others before crossing into oncoming traffic, then hitting a third vehicle head-on. The crash remains under investigation by Illinois State Police and both the Champaign County and Vermilion County Coroner’s Offices.
