Farmers Almanac: Get ready for brutal winter

The Farmers’ Almanac is out with its annual predictions for what kind of weather Illinois will see in 2020. Peter Geiger is the editor for the publication. He says Illinois can expect to see a Polar Coaster this winter.

The predictions call for heavy rain and wet snow starting in the middle of November. Cold air could move in by the end of December, with January being a “brutal” month for all of Illinois. Geiger says some parts of the state could see lows of negative 40. For spring? Geiger says to expect it to arrive late. Summer should be sultry with average precipitation.

How accurate are the weather predictions in the Farmers’ Almanac? Geiger says, last year, they were spot on.

The 203rd edition of the Farmers’ Almanac is in stores now.
