Clove Alliance renaming its office building to honor Rebecca Schatz z

The local anti-sexual violence organization -- Clove Alliance -- is respecting a late volunteer and community servant:  Rebecca Schatz.  The Clove Alliance red brick headquarter building at 1440 W. Court Street in Kankakee will bear the name of Rebecca Schatz.  The organization is renaming its headquarters with a dedication Thursday, April 24 at 4:45 pm.

Schatz served the Clove Alliance Board of Directors for four years, including the position of Treasurer. She was instrumental in helping the organization survive state funding cuts. Her community focus was about giving back.  Schatz passed away in 2016.  Her twin sister (Julie Belan) kept her legacy alive and recently donated to Clove Alliance (formerly KC-CASA) enabling the organization to pay off the mortgge on their headquarters building.  The gift relieved Clove Alliance of a monthly expense, freeing up moneyto fund other services like counseling, advocacy, legal support, prevention education and community outreach.

Clove Alliance CEO Tracey Noe Slach said the dedication is most fitting in that it takes place during National Volunteer Week.
