School is canceled today (Thursday) for the Bourbonnais Elementary District 53 students and staff. And an investigation is underway into the theft of catalytic converters from the entire fleet of school buses.

Today's cancellation is due to the overnight theft leaving the district buses inoperable. The district is unable to provide safe and reliable transportation for the students.

Law enforcement is looking into the thefts, other transportation options are being explored. The fleet of buses, according to Bourbonnais Police, were parked at the school district maintenance facility on Career Center Road. The property is protected by security cameras.
