The Beecher Muskies trailed by as many as five runs but came back to best the Berea Blue Sox 10-6 on Sunday in the NABF Major World Series title game at
North Central College Zimmerman Baseball Field. It is the second national title for Muskies (2010).
The Muskies captured the lead in the bottom of the eighth when 2019 Beecher High School grad Tyler Brody singled, scoring one run, AJ Le doubled, scoring
one run, and Patrick Carmody singled, scoring two runs.
KCC AD and Baseball Head Coach Bryce Shafer earned the win for Muskies in relief. The righty gave up just five hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out
three and walking five.
The Muskies amassed 16 hits in the game. Marty Coyle and AJ Le each collected three hits for Muskies with Le having 3 RBIs and Coyle driving in one.
Schafer and Coyle were named co-MVPs, and Le won the award for the tourney’s highest batting average (.545, 12 for 22 with 12 RBIs in 6 games).
