A 97-year-old Memphis, TN woman died in a 2-vehicle traffic accident in Iroquois County Tuesday.  Mattie Robertson was northbound approaching a construction zone on I-57 when she changed lanes to avoid a traffic-barrier.  County Coroner Bill Cheatum said the woman's SUV clipped another northbound car, forcing both units to run off the pavement into a farm field. Roberton was pronounced dead at the scene. She was alone in the SUV.  Two people in the other vehicle were not seriously injured. 

The accident happened just before noon north of Ashkum. Illinois State Police and Ashkum Fire were also at the scene.
