Newton County, IN Sheriff's Police identified a pickup truck driver killed Friday night near Brook.  It was a two-vehicle crash at State Road 55 and County Road 1000 S.

65-year-old Mark VanVleet was pronounced dead at the scene.  Police report he was eastbound on 1000 S.  Due to mechanical failure, the VanVleet pickup was unable to yield to a northbound car, driven by 20-year-old Darwin Cavillo-Perez of Goodland, IN. 

Perez was treated for minor injuries at a hospital, then arrested for Never having been Licensed to Operate a Vehicle.
