National Day of Prayer

Community invited to prayer session today on Kankakee Courthouse lawn

In response to rising concerns over broken families, community violence, and the deep need for healing, State’s Attorney Jim Rowe will host a National Day of Prayer this
afternoon (May 1) at 5:30 pm on the lawn of the Kankakee County Courthouse.  This event is open to all and encourages people of all backgrounds, faiths and beliefs to come
together in prayer and reflection. The focus will be on unity, restoration, and a shared hope for stronger families and safer neighborhoods.

“So many in our community are hurting — families torn apart, young people lost to violence, and neighborhoods in need of healing. Prayer is a powerful way to come together, find strength, and renew our commitment to one another. So I’m asking you to come pray with me and join us on the courthouse lawn for the National Day of Prayer — a moment to lift our community in prayer, and stand united for peace, restoration, and stronger families,” said Jim Rowe, Kankakee County State’s Attorney.

Visitors may want to bring a lawn chair or blanket. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Kankakee Valley Park District’s Recreation Center at 150 N Indiana Ave, Kankakee, IL.

The State’s Attorney’s Office encourages faith leaders, families, civic groups, and residents from across the county to join in this moment of collective hope and purpose through the power of prayer.
