Sixty-four year-old Larry Dean Gibbs is facing a prison term having been convicted of filing false tax returns for three years. Gibbs will be sentenced July 17 in U.S. Federal Court in Urbana. Prosecutors presented evidence showing Gibbs filed false returns in 2012, 2013, and 2014. The prosecution claimed Gibbs filed the three returns after just being released from federal prison for a prior conviction for filing a false tax return in 2005.
Gibbs faces a statuatory penalty of up to three years in prison and a $100,000 fine on each of the three counts.
