Burn Bans Re-issued

The local weather pattern continues with dry field conditions and a lack of rain.  That brings another burn ban for area counties, in Illinois and Indiana.  Iroquois, Ford and Benton County, IN officials have re-issued burn bans.  Burning of yard waste and garbage is prohibited until further notice.

The Eastern Illinois Mutual Aid Fire Association- which is comprised of all 21 fire departments in Iroquois County, are notifying residents a County-wide burn ban has been reissued and is in effect having started at 12:01 am today (Monday 9/29).

Ashkum Fire Chief and MABAS Division 37 President Jeff Glenn said, “We have not received enough rain to prevent fires from quickly spreading, and there is nothing in the forecast to give us the moisture we will need. The lack of rain and warm conditions ahead were the main reasons for reissuing the burn ban. Everything is just tinder dry.”

This ban will be in effect until further notice.
