Milford house fire results in 1 fatality

Iroquois County officials and the State Fire Marshal continue the investigation of a now-fatal Milford house fire. Last Thursday night’s fire call to a two-story house fire at 208 N. Grant Street is now also, a death investigation.

A woman severely burned in the fire died of her injuries early Sunday. Ashley Tucker of Milford passed away at Loyola Medical Center.

Milford Fire Protection Chief Frank Hines said (Monday) the State Fire Marshal and Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department are reviewing the case. The fire’s cause is still in question. Hines said local firefighters responded around 10 pm. The home was engulfed upon arrival. It’s ruled a total loss.

Ms. Tucker was discovered outside the house when firefighters arrived. It’s believed Tucker and another person had been occupying the house, which was scheduled for demolition. No one else was injured.

Chief Hines, himself, was also treated following a medical episode at the scene. He’s OK. Investigators have declined further comment pending the results of their probe.
