As the winter weather grips the country, many people have turned to using space heaters to fight the cold tempertures.  The Milford Fire Department wants people to be very cautious in using space heaters. Whether kerosene, propane or electric, officials say keep the heaters away from anything flammable. Any space heater should only be used in a well-ventilated area.  And never leave a space heater unattended.

Homeowners and renters should have a working Carbon Monoxide detector in their homes. Carbon Monoxide is odorless and can be deadly. Never overload an extension cord.
