Faulty wiring in the attic of a Kankakee home is believed to have caused an estimated $20,000 damage. Kankakee Fire answered a call to the 700-block of Webster Circle at 7:15 Tuesday evening. No one was injured but one resident was displaced.
Fire Chief Bryan LaRoche reported there was an electrical wiring problem in the attic. A resident living there was away at work when she was notified by a home security camera that a smoke alarm had activated. Firemen found flames coming from the roof on arrival.
Kankakee Fire received bak-up from Bourbonnais, Manteno, Momence and Kankakee Township.
