Field fires continue to be a problem in Illinois. Multiple Vermilion County fire departments were called to assist on a large fire near Ogden Tuesday. A stretch of I-74 and Route 150 were closed due to thick smoke causing visibity problems. Two additional fires erupted in Iroquois County, near Onarga, prompting several volunteer fire departments to respond. Gilman. Crescent City, Milford and Woodland provided mutual aid to Onarga. Fires also alerted Martinton and Paineau departments in Iroquois County. Wild fires also broke out near St. Anne in Kankakee County. Burning bans were isued last week. Ford County Emergency Management Agency also issued a burn ban.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect thru the NWS and continues today. Much-needed rain is expected for much of Illinois Wednesday night into Thursday.
