Despite the rainy weather Tuesday, voter turnout was steady much of the day… according to area election officials. Most county numbers were better or just as equal as the 2020 voter turnout.
Kankakee County Clerk Dan Hendrickson, at first said voter turnout Tuesday was on its way to a record. But then a steady flow of voters slowed down during the afternoon. Numbers were still expected at 72 percent or better.
Iroquois County Clerk Breein Suver reported a steady turnout all day.
In Ford County, turnout numbers were slightly below the 2020 figures, but still busy much of the day.
Vermilion County had a steady flow of voters most of the day. And the Clerks all said there were no voting issues.
Champaign County reported some network flaws with its vendor company that led to technical difficulties. The problem delayed voting for about two hours. The issues were resolved and the votes were processed. A petition was filed to ask the courts to extend the voting hours in Champaign County, but that petition was withdrawn.
Sangamon County also had some network issues that were resolved.
