Fairbury officials are targeting a new Boys & Girls Club.  Community leaders broke ground (Tuesday) on what they're calling a community and learning facility for both young and older citizens. The new building at 708 N. First Street in Fairbury will be the Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County.

The main site will be complimented with an Intergenerational Center on N. 7th Street, near the Prairie Central High School.  

Among the elected officials on hand for the ground-breakinbg ceremony was U.S. Representative Robin Kelly.  She said "This center will be a crucial space for fostering connections between Fairbury's elders and our emerging young leaders. "  Kelly added, "By bringing together different age groups, we create opportunities for understanding and sharing of wisdom between generations. "
