Iroquois County Board Oks zoning change for brewery

There will be adjustments made in the county liquor ordinance, but the Iroquois County Board Tuesday approved its zoning requirement to allow for construction of a brewery at Thawville. It’s a micro-brewery the Zoning Board of Appeals endorsed for Morris & Linda Tammen. The plan is to make cider, honey wine and hops. It’s an ag-tourism venture gaining a lot of popularity. Such businesses are under state- jurisdiction; a self-distributing liquor license that the county health department would keep an eye on. Construction and production could happen in the next year.
