Four fire departments assisted Ashkum in fighting a structure fire Wednesday morning at 2515 N and 200 E Road in Iroquois County. The State Fire Marshall is investigating. Ashkum fire chief Jeff Glenn reports smoke and flames coming from the roof was noticed by a passerby at 5:50 am. Glenn said the fire was stopped quickly, but the rest of the house sustained heat and smoke damage.

Danforth, Chebanse Township, Gilman and Onarga provided mutual aid. Riverside Ambulance was also at the scene.
