Danville Police and the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department are participating in the ceremony beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend the brief service. The program includes the presentation of colors, reading of fallen officers’ names, a wreath-laying ceremony, rifle salute and ‘Taps’.
National Police Week recognizes the service and sacrifice of officers. Established by Congress in 1962, the week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
