A family of nine in rural Vermilion County lost its home to fire. It happened about 5:30 pm Wednesday in the 6900-block of 3800 North near Rankin.

The owner saw sparks coming from a wall and realized there was a fire. The blaze destroyed the home. Red Cross volunteers helped the family buy food and clothing.
