A section of County Highway 3 in Ford County, between Illinois 54 and 115, will be resurfaced using funds from Gov. Pat Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program.
The project is part of a $10.4 million capital investment on road projects in Champaign, Douglas, Ford and Vermilion counties, announced by Quinn's office Thursday.
The project also calls for shoulder work to be performed on County Highway 3.
The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the project.
Among other projects, about five miles of the northbound lanes of Interstate 57 from Olympian Drive in Champaign to two miles south of Thomasboro will be resurfaced for $8,836,463. Also, a bridge carrying Illinois 49 over a tributary of Stony Creek about three miles northwest of Fithian will be replaced for $651,580.
The Kankakee Riverfront Trail project is also awarded a half-million dollars for a "shared use path" between Schuyler Avenue and Wall Street in Kankakee.
Kankakee Valley Construction Company was low bidder at a$496,000 for construction of an asphalt and concrete path.
