A brief evacuation this morning at the Valspar Corporation plant on Greenwood Avenue in Kankakee.

Kankakee fire reported a fire broke out in a mixing area of the plant. A fire department spokesman said it may have been a chemical reaction that led to the fire. No injury was reported. Damage estimates were unavailable.

Motorists were asked to avoid that area this morning. Some area roads were closed for emergency access.
