Iroquois County Police struggle with subjects during arrests

Separate weekend incidents resulted in two men being arrested for battery to a police officer.

55-year-old David Brown of rural Ashkum spent the weekend in the Iroquois County Jail after he tried to flee from police during a case involving violation of an order of protection Friday. Sheriff’s Police responded to the reported protection order violation. Brown’s truck was stopped but he refused to get out of the vehicle. When police entered the vehicle to put in mpark and remove brown, he allegedly accelerated with the officer partially in the truck. Police report the officer was able to overtake Brown and steer the truck into a ditch. Brown was then taken into custody.

Charges against Brown include Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, Violation of Bail Bond, Aggravated Fleeing & Alluding, Resisting Police and Reckless Conduct.

 

Saturday, Sheriff’s Police arrested 47-year-old Craig Sharp of Sheldon. Police answered a call to a residence in the village of Iroquois where Sharp was allegedly causing problems. After several attempts to get Sharp to leave the residence, he allegedly became aggressive with the officer and after a short altercation, Sharp was arrested.

The charges include Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer and Resisting a Peace officer.
