Ford and Iroquois Counties have been issued Winter Weather Advisories. The National Weather Service issued the advisory for the two counties from 6 p.m. Thursday thru noon Friday.
Snow accumulation of three to five inches and ice accumulation of one-tenth of an inch are expected. A period of heavy snow with rates of one inch per hour is expected late Thursday night.
Meanwhile, there’s a winter weather advisory issued for the rest of East Central Illinois from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday. In these areas, one to three inches of snow and one-tenth of an inch of ice is possible. Heavy winds may also lead to blowing snow.
Motorists are advised to plan your travel accordingly, and while on the road, be prepared for changing road conditions, slick areas, slow down, and buckle up.
