A Watseka man is jailed in Champaign County facing felony charges. 26-yr-old Collin Brais was found in an Urbana apartment, apparently a squatter there for the last week. Urbana Police report a cleaning woman entered an apartment last Friday and saw a man later identified as Brais. He ran when he saw her, but police found him nearby. Brais admitted to Urbana police that he has a heroin problem and had been staying there. Police found drugs used to treat attention-deficit disorder as well as a stolen credit card in Brais’ backpack.
Brais was charged with residential burglary, possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass to residence in connection with his Urbana arrest. He was also wanted on warrants.
If convicted of residential burglary, the most serious of all the charges, Brais faces four to 15 years in prison.
