A two-vehicle, head-on crash on U.S. Route 45/52 (Tuesday) morning killed a Bourbonnais man. 59-year-old Lawrence Henitz was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office investigated along with Illinois State Police.
The crash happened in foggy conditions just past 6 am at 7500 N Road, near Manteno.

State Police report Henitz was northbound while a 22-year-old Joliet man was southbound. Henitz was trying to pass another vehicle when the head-on crash occurred.
Timothy Sandt of Joliet was taken to an area hospital with injuries.
