Rep Bennett: changing the political climate is key moving forward
There was a whirlwind of last-minute activity in Springfield this past weekend that resulted in a new fiscal year budget. Not all are happy. New taxes were approved. Governor Pritzker praises the new budget while gaming expansion may bring new life to some selected communities.
Others will have an increases gasoline tax and increased vehicle registration fees.
Rep. Tom Bennett is likely to get an earful from constituents in the weeks ahead. He’s holding local community meetings to provide an update on the legislative happenings.
A first get-together was last evening in Iroquois County.
Bennett says all input is welcome. The representative talked to a couple dozen people at the Administrative Center in Watseka.
The graduated income tax, abortions, legalizing cannabis, gaming expansion all topics talked about.
Gov Pritizker had a big agenda and was successful with most of the items he wanted.
